Ladbrokes Casino – With the award ceremony not too far away now I would like to give a few pointers as to who may well win the coveted prize at the end of the year.
The first person I would like to mention and who is many people’s favourite to scoop the award is Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton, after a gruelling battle all the way through the season and a titanic battle with Ferrari driver Felipe Massa he managed to win his first World championship in only his second full season driving for the McLaren motor racing team.
Last year’s winner Joe Calzaghe has once again had an electric year with comprehensive wins over former kings of the ring Bernard Hopkins and then Roy Jones Jr and once again has to be earmarked as one of the possible in picking up the prize.
My choice and many others is Rebecca Adlington who turned up at Beijing for the Olympics without a prayer of a medal never mind coming home with two Gold’s wrapped around her neck covered with a huge grin to boot, the Swimming sensation from my home county of the East midlands managed to also smash the 800m World record along the way in her amazing achievement which was also the first Women’s Gold in the pool for decades.
Another amazing success story of the year was Chris Hoy’s brilliant achievement riding around the velodrome in Beijing on his bike and picking up 3 gold’s in the process but as he was favourite anyway and has won medals in the past this may go against him when the final decision is made.
